I received my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana, Illinois in 1993, and achieved my clinical license (LCSW) in 1995. My professional experiences include Emergency Rooms, Trauma Center, hospital, child welfare, special needs children and their families, hospice, department of corrections, teaching at the university level, and supervising social work interns, along with private practice. 

I am also a certified QPR Gatekeeper Instructor.

I identify my most profound professional experience as the weeks immediately following 9/11 as a member of the American Red Cross National Disaster Mental Health Team. Living in Illinois at the time I was sent to O'Hare Airport on 9/12 and together with other Red Cross volunteers provided services to stranded passengers initially, then to airline personnel including pilots, flight attendants, baggage handlers, reservations, and anyone who needed assistance. It was a profound honor and privilege to wear the Red Cross, and humbling to experience its power.
